I just found the photos yesterday of my old grow rack…
About 15 - 16 years ago I made a cheap microgreen growing rack. It was basically a 6-foot-tall chrome wire shelf unit and 2 fluorescent fixtures per shelf. I used it for a few years then gave it up. I used it for microgreens, lettuce, sprouting plants for my garden, sunflower sprouts for eating and for wheat grass.
The grow racks they sell are crazy $$.
This Spider Farmer is cheap, but don’t know anything about them.
Everything is LED now. Back then it was fluorescent. I used daylight temperature bulbs in it, I think. I researched what is the best K temp to use at the time. I would run it from 5 AM to 1 AM. Since I had regular bulbs instead of grow lights, I gave the plants more light exposure. I just put it on a timer and didn’t worry about it.
I had the lights on chains and hooks. I could raise or lower the lights. I used 4 plastic trays per shelf.
I had some gnat issues, so started to use fly tape.
I tried eating pea greens but didn’t like them.
The stand cost about $89 at Sams. I used garden dirt for most of the trays. I eventually sold the grow stand for about what it cost to build to a Hare Krishna family. If I had the room, I probably would have kept it in storage. But nowadays, space = $$, and no room for it all.
