See last few lines. Sorry to see so many mature trees being cut down. Maybe this is the best path forward?

I visited that orchard years ago when I ignorantly thought I could grow New England apple variites in swampy tidewater Maryland.
I wish they would bury the graft unions on some of the re-planted trees to test longevity and blight resistance versus their chosen rootstock (M111? or other- I didn’t see that mentioned in article).
