Family gathering in New Jersey. I ate a hot dog, a hamburger, grilled chicken and a sausage with corn and macaroni salad. Then peach crisp my wife made from the peaches we picked from the local orchard. It was delicious. I read my kids a book called “Those Rebels John and Tom” about Independence Day. Had them booing King George by the end. Great day.

2 days ago i went down to the Maine coast and came back with a 2 marine coolers full of lobster , steamers and scallops! my friend is a wholesaler down there. buys from the fisherman and sells to the northeast cities. sells them to me at his price. the family all pitch in and i go down to load up every year at this time. ate with grilled corn and yogurt with fresh strawberries from my patch as dessert! there were no left overs!

Since it got to 99 yesterday, we didn’t do much of anything here. I think that’s the hottest it’s been here since we moved here 4+ years ago. My Mom is here visiting us.

Didn’t do any grilling, we just had a regular supper of beans, fried taters and cornbread.

at those temps all you can do is stay inside. froze some watermellon and brought it out to the chicks ducks and geese. at least the waterfowl can stay cool in their kid pool but the choks are under the shade cloth all stretched out panting. the melon was we received.

We shot off fireworks, barbecued, fed the carp at a nearby lake, swam etc celebrating our independence. We are having the best 4th of July celebration in a long time! We started celebrating Wed and these are a few more pictures from today feeding the fish. There is commercial fishing allowed on the lake to take carp, buffalo, gar and other similar less desirable fish. All sport fish are returned to the water. The carp are concentrated heavily around the boat dock because it’s a tradition to feed them in that area. We will finally wind down on a Sunday.
