2nd round of beets my every other day broccoli, first harvest of the partial eclipse pattypan squash (eating them young at first but supposedly they are good older, we’ll see…) the final flush of bush beans (finally enough to cook something with, been storing them in the freezer) and strawberry blite berries

Interesting berries- do they taste like greens or like berries or a mix?

so the start of the taste is definitively sweet and berry like. the end gets a bit earthy and beet like, if you like beets youd love them, if you hate beets you probably wont. if youre neutral on beets probably will like

Snuck out to my community garden plot this morning and got about a half a quart container of albion strawberries (so I guess that makes it a pint of strawberries), a couple of Tommy Toes tomatoes, and not enough shishitos to do anything with. I like to pick some tomatoes right when they start coloring up to finish ripening on the counter. To my taste, they don’t lose much, if any, flavor and these ones are guaranteed to be safe from getting gobbled.
Lost four strawbs to the slugs and pill bugs and lost a handful of Jimmy Nardelo peppers.

Everything looks great! What is the variety of your gooseberries? They are big, just like they used to be in my grandfather’s garden 50 years ago.

no idea the variety! it was sold to me at a farm stand in carbon county PA as “white gooseberry”. they are really juicy though and yeah they get big like the ones i remember as a kid

Last round of badger flame beets, i succession planted and it went well. Next round is “golden beets” then cylindria.
Carrots are also succession planted, and dont make fun of my stupid little carrots! Theyre supposed to be that way, though i regret planting them. I guess theyre good for clay soil where you cant develop a traditional carrot, but I dont have that issue here so its just sort of a very small carrot. Wont be planting them again haha.

Small salad stuff and trying to remember to pick tomatoes as they come in strong for 2 weeks now. Blush and sungold. I think they started ripening earlier this year despite later planting and drought. Inundated with tomatoes and cucumbers, but neighbors and family are happy.

No idea, but your speckled snake gourd does not look like my Cucuzza. Slightly different shape and different patterning. The Cucuzza is close to uniform l pale green and bulges at the end. I think as zendog said, they are different squash.
i think theyre the same species, Lagenaria siceraria, but its just a variety that has striped skin! mine is somewhat wider at the bottom, if you let it

Beautiful! I thought lavina was later ripening and more of an august plum here. That’s amazing they’re ripe mid July.
To be honest, I wasn’t sure when any of these fruits ripen since this is the first year they bore fruits. They were all grafted last Spring onto my sole plum tree, a Santa Rosa and several were also grafted to the Nanking cherry tree. My go-to test for ripeness is to feel if there is any softness near the stem.
