We all struggle to maintain our health. Here are some things that work for me. You won’t find all of these something you can do but rather something I strive to do. Please add to the list and tell me what I need to change
Get lots of sleep and rest by whatever means necessary. When you are truly sick you might find like I did you dont want to rest, and you may even fear rest.
Eat only fresh things or things cooked from fresh things from reputable sources.
Eliminate things that go against your personality, causing you stress or other emotions you find undesirable
Give yourself alone time. Alone time is good for recharging your batteries.
Drink plenty of water.
Consume purple fruits daily like concord grape juice
Eat fish once a week but preferably cold water or fresh locally caught. Shrimp , lobster, clams etc are fine but no more than once a month on the shellfish. Eat tuna no more than once a month due to higher mercury levels.
Consumer vegetables everyday fresh or frozen
Consume fruit everyday of some type but not bananas more than once a week.
Do what makes you happy if it does not hurt other people it’s not selfish to keep yourself happy
Limit how much processed foods you eat even when you don’t realize your consuming them. Pop is processed food, bread, ice cream, cheese, etc.
Limit your nightshades they can cause information and pain. I did not say eliminate them I said reduce the amount. To much of a great thing isn’t good. One tomato in your salad is good 12 is bad.
If you love something stop eating it all the time. It’s not good to eat one thing that much. That means tacos, pizza, pasta and all the other most loved American foods we stole from other places.
Salad is not a cure all. Lettuce is a great gut cleaner but don’t eat it for every meal
Never give up exercise and fresh air even if it leaves you exhausted needing more sleep.
You don’t need more work. Quit bringing home every cute dog
You don’t need more responsibility. Let someone else do their fair share
It is OK not to live up to responsibility other people assign you such as vacations you need a vacation from.
Take time to walk in your garden. Set yourself up a place to enjoy as yours that you find deeply restful.
Kill your enemies as long as they are not human. Mosquitos , rats, flys, ticks or anyone that causes assaults on your tranquility. That includes weeds. It’s incredibly restful with less enemies. A watersnakee once invaded my space. I tolerated them 6 months but found that the screaming frogs and snakes increased aggressiveness towards workman and other people became intolerable. I fired up the mower shortened all the grass around the ponds killing many. The remaining snakes left hurriedly. The one that struck at me set me off. Don’t tolerate evil even when it is just nature taking its course.
Nothing on the list is absolutes and you don’t need to absolutely follow any of it its guidelines not rules
Gardening and orchard work is a therapeutic. Make time to do it to heal yourself but don’t kill yourself.
Great list! As I age I think I better understand myself and my personality. I’ve began to implement similar practices to what you have listed here. Definitely a work in progress.
I would suggest bloodwork every six months. A full physical really. Its not just cholesterol it’s thyroid hormones. Is your liver throwing enzymes? Have all organs tested for function. All you need is blood. My blood is tested every three months. It’s a great way to monitor heath. Everybody needs a primary care physician to do this shit. Make sure to test vitamin D I’m outside all day thought mine would be high, nope low I don’t convert d-4 to d-3 so I need to take vitamin d-3. Normal vitamin D is so needed for immune protection, do not let it drop low
More of a generalized statement, but I had a hard time with this and now I am much better at it:
Review your habits often. For example, I was (maybe still am) addicted to coffee. It’s a real gut irritant but it was habitual. Over time, not cold turkey, I started to switch to cacao brews and the difference in mental stimulation is noticeable. Less caffeine, no crash.
I use the word review because routine is not inherently bad. In fact, I think it is mostly good. It keeps us out of trouble a lot of the time. It has helped me with my sobriety for example. BUT, the nightly ice cream, the daily monstrous caffeine intake, the coming home from work and plopping on the couch with the TV… some things to review and potentially change up.
Great list! I’m shot in many areas. If I wake up breathing, I’m happy. And some days I don’t have to worry about the wake-up thing, as I got little sleep. Not from want, just how it is. But I keep working on better health and sleep.
Tree work has helped prolong my life. And even though I hate it, grass cutting has also helped health.
I’ve been cutting back on computer time a notch or two and keep trying to scale back on it.
I had a flood in the rec room from a torrential rain we had 2 weeks ago. It will take a lot of time to fix back up. No insurance for it. $11,000 deductible. But I’m using it as a reason to trash lots of unneeded stuff. Everything you own takes a little piece / peace of you. Health benefit from it to. Nasty old wall to wall carpet will be replaced with tile.
Of course! I am in the process of trying different ones so I can also keep you posted. So far I have tried Rocket Cacao which is heavy on the caffeine but from guarana and has l-theanine. I notice the difference but I don’t think I will get this one again. It’s a powder, basically imitating a hot chocolate mix. Much less gut issues than coffee and really tasty. Just not my preference of style.
I much prefer a “cacao brew” like I mentioned in the post, which brews like coffee in a French Press or the like. I am trying Captain’s Chocolate Organic Cacao Brew. So far I like them a lot. I think they are worth checking out.
I’ve also heard of people using cacao nibs for brewing. I used to source cacao nibs from brewer shops for making beer. Never tried this but might!
Overall, just be mindful of where it’s coming from because some companies are less careful about sourcing and contents of heavy metals in products, etc. No issue as far as this on my end yet. It’s also a little bit of a sticker shock compared to ground coffee, but I used to spend $16+ USD on a pound of local coffee anyway. This stuff is more like $16 USD for 12oz but you aren’t brewing a full pot.
Level 6 thinking dominates our cultural messaging, and that’s a level that accepts everything naively and without standards, sadly encouraging people to stay at a nearly savage level 3. We need a level 7 leadership or higher (everything has its own place and time, but that doesn’t mean it’s something to celebrate) then we’ll be back on track.
Love how you have insights on those some Godly things: keeping in order those rebellious animals like the snakes and recognising the need for rest when most usa sees this addiction to work and how you recognise the non fish eats as to be eaten very modestly as I know from sources that some shrimp is preserved using formaldehyde. You missed Gods relationship with us in your post
Yod Hey Vav Hey hand is on everything we do. All things are possible through Yeshua Hamashiach. There will be many blessings for you in your life. Shalom
Gods hand is on everything we do. All things are possible through Jesus the Messiah. There will be many blessings for you in your life. Peace be to you!
No but I prefer more traditional thoughts on thinking like Erikson’s psychosocial stages. I feel like i am at the last stage where one decides if their life was good or full of regrets. It’s the former for me. Freud stages also are correct. Armstrong or Piaget stages are yet another example of stages of development.
The level of thinking seems a rather primitive psychosocial breakdown. I prefer Erickson
Yes, as you said is true: and יהוה is mighty of it all, no bigger or greater after that in good and tough times. Thanks achi for your sayings… many blessings I’ll receive? Are you prophesying in these words, my dear brother?
Will you haven’t sold me, but I’ll take note and I’ll probably check him out sometime. But I’m not interested in psychology on a personal level, for that I’ll go to something spiritual or religious.
lol you brought it up not me. If it’s about thinking it’s psychology. Erikson describes the stages of thinking throughout our lives. One of many who have written on the subject. I myself love psychology as once I learned it I finally at last understood my thoughts and feelings. It made sense at last!! I felt so much better as I understood my reactions for the first time. Psychology of personality interested me the most.
I thought it was clear that on a social level it’s interesting for interpreting and responding to others. On a personal level (I mean for myself), I don’t want to fix the cracks with surface treatments.
