Help Identifying

Hello everyone,
I am hoping that someone might know what these three things are. The first is a grass that seems to grow really well in the sandy soil of the orchard, second is an odd fleshy grass (?) that has taken over a corner of my garden, last …well i don’t know what it is, some sort of mushroom fruit body maybe?

Does the last one smell bad? Most likely a Stinkhorn mushroom.
I’'m not sure about the others yet.Brady

I didn’t try smelling it. It was hollow, the dog nudged it and it snapped off. Cant say I’ve ever seen this type of fruiting body in my area.

The second group could be False Solomons Seal. Brady

#2 is hardy wandering Jew… It has a pretty blue flower.

I think officially it is a spiderwort.

Not sure what is up with the text…

Thank you. Guess that shows my level of programming savy…

Chills is right about the hardy wandering jew. It took me ten years to get it out of my garden. I think it might have had a different name, however. The mushroom is definitley Stinkhorn. I had it growing in my herb garden one year but it was bright red! They looked like devil’s horns coming out of The ground!

That wandering jews are weeds. It has prettier cousins that are sold as decorative house plants, not this kind. Like @mrsg47, it has taken me years to weed them out. They still pop up once in a while but much easier to get rid of when they are in small number.

Roundup and other herbicides don’t work well on them either.

Thank you Scott, I knew it wasn’t grass but couldn’t think of what it actually was. Oddly enough the flowers just came in the other day, pretty but where it is in the garden isn’t someplace that I can leave it.

Thank you everyone, the stinkhorn is something new to me. I kind of regret not smelling it since its name indicates that it is a prime part of it but at the same time…maybe I’m ok with this.

Yeah, don’t regret too hard. They have popped up everywhere I put down wood chips. Not nice…

there is a little edible “pea” in the hardy wandering jew flower. We used to munch on them as kids (and since we are all still alive, I’m assuming it did us no harm). I’ve dwindled their numbers here, but a wet spring does favor their germination.

I have yet to get out there and pull up my monotheistic flowers but seeing as they are where my squash are supposed to go their days are numbered. Nice to know they have an edible part though.
