I can briefly comment on the technology used in this sequencing endeavor as indeed being very expensive but also the best in many regards.

Thank you for your interest in our GoFundMe for Fig genetic sequencing! The laboratory has been working on the 15 samples all summer and one by one results are beginning to arrive. To date the sequencing of fig “Enderud” has been completed and others will follow in the coming months. Then it will be my turn to analyze the data – along with several other collaborators worldwide. As papers are published I will post them on GrowingFruit.org.
