Home Depot Carrying Ponca Blackberry in Northern Ohio

“Taste of Heaven” is the retail brand name used by Proven Winners for “Ponca”
very cool to see. ive purchased ponca and prime ark freedom from isons already though and they all have leafed out, if they dont do well in Ohio ill just transplant to South Carolina. Ouachita seems solid for SC so i might add that one. i do not remember seeing this variety last year so i thought id share.

I’m in Pittsburgh and they are also selling it here as well. I bought one without realizing that it was a renamed Ponca. I already have a few Ponca but figured I could just take one to my father’s or a buddies if I had to.

very cool.
Did your ponca floricanes survive this winter without cover?

They were in pots in the garage with the figs. I dont think that they would have had any chance at the -13f that were supposedly got down to.
I recently put a couple in the ground along with Prime Ark Freedome and a few thornless blackberries that I dug from the rows on my Uncle’s farm this past weekend in Tennessee.

o you potted them, very cool, ill have to try that eventually. i planted 2 poncas and a prime ark freedom. i figure the canes will die off each winter so ill trim it back almost to the ground each year and see if i get a reasonable crop compared to chester and triple crown. if the Arkansas blackberries dont do great in ohio, ill just transplant to the back yard in south carolina.

i think the prime ark 45 is the most cold tolerant from Arkansas, its the thorned version i believe
