3 friggin’ inches predicted tom. and tom. night! we only got a 1/2in. from lee. cant get a break on this wet spell. 3in. will flood big time. wish i could send it to the midwest/west where its truly needed.
Yes, could you do that please?
Still relentlessly dry out here in central BC. No measurable precip since the last day of August. But the wildfire smoke has died down and it’s been beautiful late summer weather with cool mornings and highs in the lower 80s.
The long-range ensemble weather models are agreeing on a big pattern change soon in the north Pacific; I hope it means we get some sky water.
Over 2 1/2 inches out of small low that parked overhead this weekend. Maybe it’ll take us off the drought map
Just like the sound of thunder!
Yup. Another 2-3” here in C NH as well. And the beat goes on…
I’d sure take it if you could send it. I’ve not seen things this dry at this time of the year ever before.
I’m about done hoping for rain at this point. If it happens, it happens.
both the GFS and Euro are suggesting a much wetter pattern starting next weekend into the following week up here. Need to get some project stuff done asap this week.
Got roughly 1/2 inch rain here Sat/Sun.
Could have used an inch of yours.
Start hoping for early snow? I recall 1986 visiting Madison and the Dells…and snow had just melted in early OCTOBER!
I was probably bowhunting in that snow. I recall a few October snowfalls in the 80s and 90s
I’ve got 2 brothers hunting elk in Montana right now and i see snow in the forecast for later this week out there. Same system will move east but the models are all over the place on who gets rain–it was looking like a washout here, but now everything looks to hang back west in MN, SD, North Dakota. We did grab .19 inch this morning–slowly getting some moisture back. 79F this afternoon.
we regularly got frosts in late aug. in the 70’s and early 80’s.
Just been running thru some local weather data. I can’t believe how cold December 1983 was for La Crosse. That stretch from the 16th thru the 30th…not fun.
If the forecasted rain totals for the next 10 days was accurate, it would represent more rain than has fallen in the last 50+ days. I’ve seen rainfall forecasts like this off and on since early July, and then watch next to nothing come of each “storm system”. I’ll believe it rains when it happens.
No frost in the 10 day though, that gets us to early October without a frost. A bit unusual
Newest model run shows rain here maybe sat morning (not much) and the heavy rain that it drops on central MN just dies as it hits Wisconsin. GFS has SNOW for north dakota day 9 and day 10…after that much colder air drops down over us–but that is so far out==although we are about due for some 30Fs.
Very warm here this afternoon…low 80Fs and high’ish dewpoints (for time of year).
i actually hope you dont get that. your perennial plants/ trees need to go dormant before you get any decent amount of rain. this is about when we got that 2in. in 2020 i told you about. that 1.05in. on sat. would be enough to set things to grow again. in comparison, this is the 1st 7 day I’ve seen since May there is no rain in the forecast and low to mid 60’s for temps. perfect! time to spray the cherries.
Trees are shutting down for the season now. Most of the maples will be bare by this time next week. I don’t think an inch would even get to the roots of most trees. The ground is like dust. I don’t think an inch would even bring my clover plots back to life.
Oh, shorter days, cooler temps, and an inch of rain … should put fall crops to growing. (Plus clover).
Been flirting drought in KY this year…but our precip is normal or above.
Has been above normal for at least 7 or 8 years.
Not much for fall crops up here. Winter rye to hold the soil on spud fields maybe. Way too late for turnips or brassicas to put on any growth, unless they’ve been irrigated for the last 40-60 days anyway. 84 yesterday, 81 today. September has been much warmer (and drier) than average. Looks to stay that way through the end of the month.
some very light rain this morning. Humid. Models have flipped back to a wet look–weekend appears to be a washout on the GFS. Snow in Yellowstone tonight.
