camo shorts and camo paint for the rest of skin. lol! skeeters must still be around also. cant imagine deer move much at those temps. so far we have avoided any extreme heat this summer and fall is looking to start near normal. upper 60’s the next couple days then low 60’s rest of the week. usually our days are in the mid 50’s by now so still a little warm. going grouse/ muskie hunting tues. love cast and blast.

Skeeters were thick all summer. With zero rain for the last 5 + weeks they aren’t bad at all now.

I won’t shoot a deer when its this warm. Too many things can go wrong and end up with ruined meat

Last week was the 1st moose season. we took in a 58in. bull shot the day before. they gutted it but didnt hang or cape it. just left it on the ground. the whole thing was going yellow/ green. took the loader and dumped it in the woods for the critters. what a damned shame. the shop was full of blow flies. we had to vent and disinfect everything. we pelted it off before we noticed. full rut bulls stink so we didnt smell the rot right away. stunk so bad , you could taste it once the pelt came off.

That is a shame. I am hoping to go cross-bowing for whitetail in early November, should be cool enough then. Tomorrow is our last day in the 80s. After that on the 10-day every high looks to be in the 60s. They are saying we may have out first frost next Saturday. We are right around 2400 GDU’s since early April; definitely an above average amount of heat for us.

yes, it is. was a beautiful bull. at least we were able to save the mount for them. they were from central Maine and had no previous experience with moose. i almost shed a tear seeing it dumped in the woods.

It is very dry here some smaller trees are wilting, grass dying, and the top 8in of soil is bone dry. But the springs are oddly still flowing even though some of them usually stop when it gets dry out.

80Fs here today…record is around 86F… very windy with gusts near 40.

Cool down tomorrow (60Fs) and we gradually warm right back towards 80F late week. Might have shorts on in December this year.

This thing is a monster. I wouldn’t want to be anywhere nears it path. Be interesting to see how much it weakens as it crosses the state. It does look to go out into the Atlantic. NWS Tampa says if everything holds, this is the strongest hurricane to hit Tampa in over 100 years.

65F and gorgeous here in the cheese state. Warmer as the week goes on.

If you just look at the 7 day, weather looks pretty good. Thursday will be our first day below 70 since mid-March probably. Shame theres a hurricane first.
