How is your weather? (Part 2)

Very heavy rain this evening. Like it was July out there. Over an inch. Weird for January.

Streets flooded here for a while.

Any snow left there? This took care of most of it outside of ice piles. Streets are all clear and clean except for potholes. You have to swerve around them in a lot of areas–i thought the front end of my car was going to fall off when i hit one!

We ended up with 1.15 inches… avg for the month is 1.25 so almost there already.

Milwaukee, WI was 59F at 1am this morning. Ton of warm air with this system.

got some freezing rain / sleet mix today with highs in the upper 30’s then back into the freezer again the rest of next week.

So warm today! Windy, but 60°F. Snow is all melted and the ground isn’t even too squishy. Planted a few trees that have been waiting over winter.

Like clockwork, nearly every January most of the state gets a 2ish week dry spell. This year is no different; however, the snowpack isn’t as deep as I would like to stand up to the warmer temps ahead. On the bright side, it’s a chance for us to start pruning the vineyards.

Someone posted this on a weather blog I follow:

That’s about 300x more rain received in LA this year compared to last year.

would need a pick axe and a strong back to plant anything here right now.

@steveb4 I bet it’s rock solid in your neck of the woods. Next week we’re getting a long stretch of nights in the teens so it may freeze then, but right now it might as well be early spring. I put in Siberian C and Iowa White peaches along with some elderberry bushes. I am skeptical we’ll see any below zero temps this winter.

my siberian peaches grew 4-5’ from pits in 2 summers. i have 4 iowa white pits im growing next spring. hopefully between the 2 they give me some peaches. contender didnt leaf out the 2nd spring. reliance did but died back to the snow line the 2nd winter after giving me 1 peach the 1st one. we are seeing typical winter weather this year so im not hopeful reliance will survive this year.

We’ve had a very warm mild winter so far. We’ve had a few nights get down into the upper 30s or low 40s but it has mostly been lows in the 50-60 range and highs in the low 70s to low 80s. It’s about mid-January and I’m harvesting bananas, papayas and passion fruit.

We got a dusting of snow overnight…just enough to cover everything.

Weather pattern looks to take a break. Hopefully we can break into some sun everyday. Yesterday was probably the nicest day we’ve had in a long time–upper 30Fs/sunshine/no wind. I like.

low 30’s and sunny. 1st time in weeks the chicks are out in their run soaking up the rays.

Sunny days in winter are my favorite. I can take sun everyday this time of year. In summer i’m fine with some cloudy days.

i fed/ let the chics out. sat on the water bucket facing the sun and soaked it up for 30min. while scratching the dog. we all enjoyed it. dog would growl when one of the girls came close. hes super protective but hes never grabbed one. just chases them off. they sometimes give him a peck on the nose.

I’ve got 39F right now. Calling for 48F here tomorrow. That would be the warmest in some time. Too bad it can’t stick around until spring.

My oldest brother was coming back from ice fishing Lake of the Woods–they caught a bunch of walleye and sauger…limit is 6 total and i think he was bringing that back. The fish were in 30 feet of water and he thought there was 18 inches of ice. Guys are out in boats here fishing the dam this afternoon.

15"-18"+ on lakes around here. Lots of wheelhouses out

I just can’t sit in a shanty for 4 days straight with 4 other guys. I think i’d start to go nuts. You are 5 miles out there and there isn’t any bathrooms! nope.

I had 47F in my car. I need to order seeds.

Nice wheelhouses have full restroom facilities. Some have showers. Satellite TV. Cooktops. Nice racks for sleeping. Pretty much anything a nice pull behind camper or RV has.

Rental fishhouses usually aren’t that nice
