Hurricane Harvey - How are the orchards?

One of my friends nearby Austin Tx let me know they have 8 inches of rain today and what’s left of hurricane Harvey is circling over the area and downgraded to a tropical storm. How are your orchards impacted ?

It just started raining for the third time today. It’s not even the hurricane. I thought this was a desert?

I’m hoping it stops in time for an evening walk.

How much rain did you get? My friend said the Austin area is getting 30 mph wind gusts. This is what she said “Hey there! It’s stuck between 2 systems and will be circling for a few days. We have had rain and winds at 30 mph and higher gusts all day…we are just north of Austin”

We’ve had light rain off and on and basically no wind yet. We actually needed some rain. We are sitting right on the edge of Harvey’s outer circle to the north but still ~300 miles from the center. We may get nothing more than that…time will tell. :upside_down_face:

I apologize there is a hurricane Harvey thread in the lounge already I was unaware of. Please use that one.

I have only had 6 inches so far, but people just 20 miles west have had 15 inches. The problem is it is not suppose to move out until Friday. Houston has had over 20 inches and still raining.

I called my Aunt in the Houston area last night to see how she is holding up with all the water. Luckily she lived on higher ground but lots of her friends houses are flooded. Hopefully FEMA will be prepare with a long notice to help out people in Houston.

We made it out Monday, just in time. We saved our 2 vehicles, not much else. The house has at least 4 foot of water, maybe more. I am glad we left when we did, it only took about 2 hours and the roads were closed going out of town. We received 47 inches of rain, 25 inches on Tuesday morning. I am high and dry north of Waco. Hopefully will get back to see the damage on Sunday or Monday. We did get our dogs and 2 birds. We can’t get internet where I am at, currently at the library in town.

That’s awful. I can’t imagine that kind of damage or that kind of rainfall. I hope you have good insurance.

Oh my. May God bless your recovery efforts. Like @fruitnut it is hard to concept 4’ of water in my house and where to even begin remedying that. Holy cow. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

I just read an estimate that Harvey totalled a 1/2 million cars. :frowning:

Glad you and your family and your pets are safe. That’s most important.
You have a long road of recovery ahead of you, I wish you good luck!

Gary I’m sorry to read about your losses and glad to read it was not any worse than that. Hurricanes like those that I’ve seen the aftermath of like in Galveston are incredibly destructive!

Crap! Sorry Gary, we will help you rebuild your garden when that is of any concern.
