I have had a problem with tags blowing off of my frankentree and I thought I had a nice branch of Yellow Delicious- but it’s not. It’s an obvious match with Ginger Gold. I picked a couple today and the seeds are just about 1/2 darkened. We’re probably about a week away from picking them.
With my limited experience of the apple I’m reserving judgement, but in past years I haven’t been blown away with store-bought GG. These should be better; we’ll see!
I don’t know that I’ve ever had a golden apple I actually liked…Grimes Golden maybe. Am hoping I’ll like Hudson’s Golden Gem…but I nearly lost it to dry weather last month.
Ginger Gold…been 30 or more years since I’ve eaten one, so I may have forgotten. I liked it better than Mutsu off the tree. Not quite as good as a Golden that is actually tree ripened and juciy.
