Where in Morocco? The summer heat will likely be a problem, so you should consider shading and automatic irrigation.
Thanks a lot Richard!
Yes it can be warm here in summer, between 30 and 44.
I will buy a couple of āumbrellasā and fill them with water and spread them when needed to shade them from direct hot sun light.
What do you recommend against strong wind and cold? Against wind I can put sticks to strengthen the trees against wind.
But what about cold?
In a little city names Guercif. 55 km from Taza and 100 km from Nador.
Honestly i think your going to need a breathable shade cloth attached behind the building where it will not end up being a kite for the worst parts of the summer and allow wind out the sides. I think umbrellas will just end up being kites.
I just do not see cold being an issue unless your winters have no sun? With all that thermal mass you look good unless its a very bad cold in which case you could scrunch them up together and wrap em with plastic against the side of your building or even inside.
From creeping on google maps satellite-- are those huge olive tree orchards in your town and Taddart?
Yes, Guercif is one of the cities known for olive trees. And also land is not expensive. I think around 8000 dollars you will have two hectares of land. Electricity is there and own water supply and building a house is not expensive.
I also want 2 hectares and Iām searching because I would like to live there some day close to the mountains and have my own food and olive oil the whole year. That would be best because this COVID and lock downs has learned me a good lesson.
Putting them inside is not a easy job since they are very heavy. I think they are heavier than me and my weight is 100 kg. Sun is always there indeed.
Can you tell me the name of those things that you advised me about getting breathable shade? I would like to see what you mean.
With āumbrellasā I meant parasols like these maybe:
Do you have a link, I canāt find it
This sort of idea but just because in my imagination you live in a desert area and have high winds i would try to attach it low enough so its not always catching tons of wind.
Thanks for the video and sorry for my late reaction. I love in a small city that is surrounded with mountains and Agriculture. Sometimes the wind is hard and also through the whole year we receive some sand storms. But overall it is very sunny and warm. It does not rain a lotā¦
I have just finished planting all trees that I had yesterday. I have a total of 17 planted trees now, 1 I placed sunflowers seeds in it to see what it will bring and I have one container which is empty and Iām thinking about getting a pomegranate tree or do something else with it.
I wanted to ask about the banana plants I got. It seems that I have two plants, not just one. It came as one but when I wanted to plant them a while ago, I saw that there were two of them so I separated them from each other, but planted them in the same container. Should I use the empty pot to plant the second banana plant or should I leave them as they are in one plant? Iām afraid that they will grow slower because they are sharing the same pot and food and water.
