Illinois Everbearing pruning recommendations?

Not sure what to do with this one. It is Screaming to me for summer pruning. Am I correct in this assessment? If so how, where? Or wait till spring?
It was literally 3 feet at the start of spring this year.

Somebody once likened pruning/training IE to trying to control a firehose.

Mines been kinda branchy like that. Trimmed some off for scion wood but still looks the same way.

Be prepared for it to grow even faster next year. Yes you can prune it now. It will continue to grow after pruning.

Will It be fine if I just leave it the way it is?

Is that your field? It is a great looking field.

Yes, you can prune it in the summer or winter or not at all. I prune mine to keep the size under control but it’s a losing battle. I’ve been pruning mine a little at a time and giving the branches to my neighbor for his chickens. The love love eating the leaves.

Why thank you and yes it is. We have owned the 20 acres for 4 years and now finally at the end of the month we will start building our forever home on it.

Congrats about the house. Living in the burbs 20 acres seems like just enough room.

Just to stick to the topic, my Illinois Everbearing sapling I planted in the spring was completely eaten by deer, trampled by me in the dark one night, and had the protective cage I put around it fall onto it and laid it flat for about one week. It is still growing strong.

I believe it! Not sure I have seen such a vigorous tree like it before.
