Kris, Gr8 video. Thanks for posting. Have an Indian Free…maybe a Black Boy sometime in the future? Wonder what it would do here in Z8A Georgia? Randy/GA
I have IF, and Blood Cling… i passed on BB due to Scott’s reviews but i think i am going to give it a try.
Some others grow it on here and say it ripens 7 days after IF… in their areas.( a couple of good reviews on this thread)
As far as its history… It may be Sanguine de Savoie…but with a NZ name.
All of these red-fleshed peached are pretty similar, except for Indian Cling which is a hard pickling peach that is not very sweet. I even have a couple seedlings fruiting and guess what? Same looks and taste! My favorite one is Sanguine Tardeva, it’s earlier than IF/BB but otherwise very similar. The later ones I had a lot of rot issues on many years ago.
The one I found a bit richer is the Peche de Vigne that Arboreum sold. It is late like IF. It has not fruited well for me though due to deer setbacks so not a lot of fruit to compare. It also seems to be a bit smaller-fruited.
Depending on what source you read… BB is either the best peach someone has ever had or it isnt. It has many issues or it has none to little at all.
If you were to decipher it all i think those folk that had warm sunny and dry Aug-October probably had the best results. Those that didnt on any particular year probably had the poorest results.
BB has a more pronounced red blush and dirty molted fuzz appearance. I can see the difference very clearly now that my trees are over 8 years old.
