Wondering what are some of the insect sprays that are members are using and for what insect pests problems are they trying to correct.
I’ve always used Spinosad for codling moth control, with mixed results. This year I added Triazicide to the first spray (along with sulfur powder for powdery mildew, and a spreader-sticker) and so far my apples are showing no sign of CM. But there are at least two more generations to go!
I also did a heavy spray of dormant oil just before bud break in the hopes of smothering some hatching eggs, but I really have no way of guaging whether that is helping, since I also used the triazicide and spinosad.
Keith, under the Guides category you’ll see a post for Spray Amounts. That gives a good list of pesticides for consideration.
Scott and Alan both have spray programs posted that give ideas for products.
Here’s a link to a Cornell publication listing apples insect pests and control methods: https://www.researchgate.net/publication/265406678_Extension_Based_Tree_and_Small_Fruit_Insect_Pest_Management_Strategies
Thanks for the quick response you both and the helpful tips.
