I’ve had apple crops in the second leaf using stocks like M9. It helps that I have a long season. But for me apples fruit way sooner than pears like Comice and Bosc, they took 7 yrs. Apples on M9 types should bear no later than yr 3-4 and I can’t imagine it taking 4 yrs.
My apples on M26 bore some fruits on the second year and more on the third, and they should be loaded this their forth year. I guess I should consider myself lucky. They were the most consistent and productive trees in my young orchard.
