John Brittain of Nolin River passes away

Per Facebook post. I got my persimmon trees from him.

That’s really sad to hear. Thanks for posting. I only interacted with John a few times, but he came across as generous with his time, knowledge, and talents. Condolences to his family.

A good man. I bought special pecans, hickories and walnuts from him about 40 years ago. Always admired someone who could graft nut trees.

That is horrible news. He did a lot to further the cause of fruit and nut tree growing.
Tragic circumstances around his death too. So sad.

I considered John a personal friend. He will be missed with much sadness.

That’s sad.

But, the way people are going crazy over the flu is sad too.

Sad news, indeed. John was a most helpful and engaging fellow… I always looked forward to visiting with him at KY NGA meetings. Loved his sweet, funny wife, Lisa, who left us too soon, as well. Those are some shoes that won’t easily be filled.
