Here’s one of the others. This is a new graft (actually, 2 new grafts, one of which worked). Of the two scions, one was waking up (the difficulty of getting scionwood from CA). The partially awoken wood didn’t take, but the mostly dormant one did. And it already has fruit on it, with an intersting shape.
Some Black Sea fruit have a similar shape, though they often out-grow it. From the pics I saw online (Facebook) of Lopa, it looks like it get interesting coloration, with a bit of a stripe in the middle.
But I don’t see any from the self-rooted Honey Jar, Sugar Cane, or So. Looks like I was too careful when transplanting those trees. I let one of the guys helping me do most of the digging with the Autumn Beauty.
I feel bad mowing them, as it is pretty hard to get jujubes on their own roots. Maybe I’ll dig them up in the fall and find someone local to give them to. And maybe keep one as a backup for the current tree.
The only other such tree I may have a sucker from is BV1. I was pretty careful digging it, so it is possible that it is really a sucker from the big So which is 12-15’ away. I won’t know until I dig and trace the root.
