Just check out this nursery

I have just ordered for the first time from:

nursery. To see what is available in apples, pears, apricots etal. Have a look. They sent me a Calville Blanc d’Hiver that arrived the other day. (Bareroot of course, planting season here). They said there was a scrape on the trunk of the apple so they send a second ‘surprise’ tree! They surely did. The apple is 8 feet tall and the new (Mirabelle de Nancy is about the same height. The scrape on the trunk of the apple was nothing and will easily heal.

Wow, what service and packing. A beautiful job all around. Just take a look at their catalogue. Makes me want to have a yard, instead of growing in pots. The trees are magnificent. They will go into pots next week. It cold enough outside just to leave them in their black plastic. (Removed the plastic from the top so they can breathe). Choices, choices! I envy you being in one of the early apple refinement countries. I sometimes use Google translate to check out local to country nurseries. They all seem smaller and really dedicated to getting their trees out to folks who appreciate them. And sometimes you make friends. I’ve corresponded with the fine folks at Kuffel Creek’s operation in Africa.

Great isn’t it? The varieties of fruit is so incredible. They also pride themselves in maintaining heritage varieties. I’m in a lucky place.
