'Kittageskee' Apple Report

That’s great they are such good apples. Nice job!

Glad to hear that. I have 3 grafts that took so maybe ill get some fruit year after next. Hard to find apples that develop decent quality in my yard. Goldrush is even sub-par this year for me.

Does anyone have any scions of this variety that they could share?

that’s a late apple! are you still storing some to try late storage?

Still eating them now; a tiny bit worse for wear but still good. Garage fridge temps swing all over creation, may have frozen during 10 degree weather so considering all that it’s doing great.

I don’t think this apple is going to work this far south. It blooms very late. My goldrush is close to done with petal fall. Some of my later bloomers are at peak bloom or just past it now. But Kittageske hasnt bloomed yet. The buds are starting to move but no flowers yet. This is going to be very bad for fireblight. Very, very bad. I wonder if it needs higher chill hours than I have here or if it’s a late bloomer everywhere?

Interesting. My KITT are blooming here in eight a Maryland same time as goldrush and most other apples. KITT is from the southern Appalachians so there must be something else going on.

I have it grafted on my goldrush tree. The southern Appalachian get over 1500 chill hours but I’ve been getting 800 give or take. I’ll keep an eye on it another year or two. If it doesn’t get blight maybe I’ll get some fruit this year.

This is good to know. I thought I ready it was flower group 5, but that sounds incorrect and it’s more 3?

The oddball anise apple Milo Gibson not showing any sign of blossoms opening. Nearly as delayed is Red Cinnamon, very late bloomer.
