I purchase a harogem apricot on krymst 99 rootstock from Cummin’s nursery last year. I couldn’t find much info on the rootstock, but at the time it was the only available offering around for harogem, so I went ahead and got it anyway
What I’ve noticed so far is that it’s astonishingly vigorous. After one year and one month in the ground, the tree is now larger than some of my third-leaf trees. And the vigor is entirely from the rootstock; the graft union is well above ground level. Had I know it was on a magic beansprout, I would have chosen a location further from the house…
I’m a bit concerned about it’s cold hardiness, as it gets pretty cold here in 4b. If it’s suitably hardy, it will likely become one of my top rootstock choices. Does anyone else have experience with K99 or info about its cold tolerance?
