We only have 5 fruit left from our Jiro harvest, which makes me wonder – is there a variety that ripens about a month after Jiro that has a passing chance of making it in zone 6b/7a? Digging through my notes, the only one I’ve seen that might match that description is Fuyu.
I don’t know how long the fuyus would hang on my trees. The possums pick a night and clean them off about mid November here. 8b/9a. D
Ha! That’s interesting. I know I have to pick my Jiros early to dodge our squirrels. Makes me wonder if they’d hit both trees at the same time, or would wait for equal almost-ripeness.
