Lazy j pear from Lazy J Ranch ordered from 39th parallel

Yes the pear taste good. The ones i had were not ripened perfectly. Mike gave me a couple of the fruits and i grow the tree.

Must be pretty disease resistant being grown your high FB pressure area.

Yes the Lazy J are hard pears to figure out they have no diseases. The shape is unusual and distinct. They are seedlings shown below grown at a ranch near here. The fruit was not picked at an ideal time. Noone would have any idea of its genetics. The pear below was brought to my attention by @39thparallel. These are the only pictures i’m aware of which i took many years ago before i ate the fruits.

The tree i planted has grown fine unsprayed near my house with no special care.

The Lazy J (Named for the Ranch it came from) seems like a winner. The old tree I collected scion from showed no sign of disease. It has the shape of an Asian pear but finer texture and flavor of a euro pear.

Had you not rescued this seedling pear i doubt it would have ever been discovered. Very likely would have been another great variety lost to time.
