Leaf 'glued' to gala

I’ve come across multiple apples as I’m harvesting my galas that have a leaf glued to the apple. When I brush off the leaf, there is a ‘glue’ of webbing and an excavated area under the leaf. I have found a small beige worm with a dark brown head associated with some of these leaves. Is this common and what name should I call this. About 2-3% of the apples show these symptoms. Help please

I think that might be a leaf roller. I had them one yr in my greenhouse on stone fruit. Perhaps more common on apples.

I agree, probably a leaf roller. I recently had one do the same thing to a jujube.

Sometimes spiders will do the same thing, but I’ve never seen one cause any damage to the fruit.
