Lost my Toka Plum this winter

Lost my Toka to strong winds. Quick thinking I saved a few scions. I think I’m on my way to getting a replacement. Rootstock is really aggressive.

I did the same thing with a girdled niedzwetzkyana apple this spring. I was able to get a good scion before the upper portion dried out.

Love the purple martin house and gourds as well.

Hope you have good success with your Apple. Reminds me, I need to get a few red flesh apples on my list.

Graft looks great, you might want to put in a stake to tie it to for vertical support during first year until graft is strong enough to handle bird landings. Also suggest rubbing off all the below buds and shoots to give priority to the graft.

Thank you. I wanted to wait till the graft took really well before I took off the remaining growth.

I also put a net over the wire fence to keep birds and deer from nibbling away.

Thanks for the comments.
