This is the first year of production for my Luisa plum tree, (second summer in ground). This tree has proven to be vigorous, healthy, and precocious.
There has been no sign of black knot on this tree, in what has been a bad year for BK so far. We had a very cold wet spring this year, and because of this pollination rates were very poor on many of my plum trees. Pollination rates were so poor that many of my plum trees have no fruit at all this year.
So I’m actually pretty happy with the tree itself for producing fruit this year when many others had none. Producing fruit at only 1 1/2 years in ground, and having no health issues this tree seems better than many other Japanese plum trees I own that had no fruit this year.
Unfortunately, I have a very strong feeling that the tree was mislabled by Whiffle Tree Nursery (Canada), and that this is not a Luisa plum. This is very disconcerting, as this nursery now refuses to ship to my home Province of BC and I know of no other source. So, I’m pretty sure getting a replacement Luisa tree shipped to BC will be next to impossible.
Every picture I have seen online of the fruit from the Luisa plum tree has shown an elongated shaped plum (much like a European prune type plum). Even at the very young green stage, every Luisa plum picture I’ve seen all showed an elongated shape, (not a round shape like most other Japanese type plums). The plums on my supposed Luisa tree are all round, and do not match any pictures I’ve seen online of Luisa plums.

The plums are all of a good size, and normally I would be super happy with this tree for producing even a small crop when many others had none. The problem is, I feel pretty doubtful that the tree I was shipped was actually a Luisa plum tree.
Could other owners of Luisa plum trees please give me their opinion of if this tree is truly a Luisa plum.
Any feedback would be truly appreciated if you grow Luisa, (no AI comparisons please).
