My tree didn’t survive this winter either!! All my trees seemed to get some sort of fungal issue and while my other trees can shed the leaves and come back my mango tree just lost all its leaves and never grew any back, I tried moving it back inside before it lost all the leaves but it didn’t seem to help. I want to try again this year for sure but my location isn’t the best for tropical fruits.
Oh, no! That same mango that you had in your pics from Aug and Sept? That was a beautiful specimen, too! I understand, though. I lost so many, that it would prob be smart to give up. I think there’s a mango youtuber with a channel called “Living With Mangoes” or something like that; anyway, after the big Florida freeze he lost pretty much all his in-ground mangoes that were in his field - and he said he is not going to replace them. So he’s moving on to more cold hardy fruits for his area. Me? I think I just like the fruit (and the challenge) so much that I don’t wanna give up just yet. Where there’s a will, there’s a way–right?
So I replaced 3 and we’ll see how that goes next winter. That’s kind of what happened with my citrus. I killed a bunch the first year, and a couple the second year, but then I sorta hit my stride. That’s why I have so many now, lol.
Pretty sure my mango did not make this winter. Too dry then too cold.
I will ask auntie for another mango!
Yes, don’t give up!
I like knowing I’m not the only one trying to grow and fruit a mango in WA, lol.
