I might try to do this method of propagation with my Calamondin citrus. It seems like it is faster method than the ordinary marcotting. The improvement that I would make is to make sure the cambiums of the roots and the stems would match better, unlike the one illustrated here that there are very few areas of cambium to cambium contact.
