Joe’s Fruit gardening tip: I save some of the pruning clips into a 2 gallon bucket with water that I refresh every couple of days. Then I place it to any tree that needs cross pollination.
I can make it bloom early by placing the bucket inside the house and I can make it bloom later by placing outside under a shade. This way I can synchronize blooming for cross pollination even for cultivars that have wide discrepancies in peak blooms. The clippings can be cut to size to fit inside the fridge for really delayed blooms.
Sometimes I do it with plastic milk jugs if I want the pollenizers hang on the same branch.
You can prolong the blooms by mixing aspirin in the water.
