Moxxi Apple

Don’t see much about this sweet tart apple named Moxxi but it reminded me of a Cosmic Crisp in flavor which has been my all time favorite. I know some people don’t care for the CC but that’s because they’re probably not getting the good ones :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: with that said I’m no apple expert like many of you are.

Yesterday at a high end store called Forklift I grabbed my first Moxxi that was almost $4 per lb. They reminded me of a Sumo mandarin. Ugly pocked skin not as appearantly in the photo but really stood out in their display at the market. Before I cut it open just now I was wondering if it was old but it’s not and possibly even harvested a little early. Very crispy the texture almost reminded me of a moist jujube.

The brix was only 12 on this apple but it was still very good and enjoyable to eat.

This is the best Apple I’ve ever had. I think I bought every single one the Nugget Market had (in Vacaville) over the course of 2 weeks. I hope these become super popular so I can get them anytime. Whoever made these is my hero.

I went back a few times. So crispy and refreshing! I was surprised to see no other postings about Moxxi on here!

@dannytoro1 same place Cosmic Crisp is from?

Yeap. And Pinata.

Being Club Apples they will not be available to home growers for a while. Controlled access to growing rights is critical to quality control. Look at the fall of Honeycrisp. Once the controls dropped it was not so great out of it’s original growing area.

Well that’s interesting thanks. Also why I didn’t try growing a Cosmic Crisp here.
