One of the mulberry trees on the border of my property is showing damage. Any ideas if this is herbecide drift or something else? We are receiving heavy regular rains. I suspect it was from dandelion spray because other mulberries not on the border show no damage but other mulberries on the border show damage. Im not seeking compensation since these trees are not part of the fruits i sell but rather what i use for bird distraction fruit during cherry season. Border trees are always a problem so much so organic farms the last time i looked into it required crops be planted at least 30 feet from a border.

I’ve got one that looks even worse… a 10-12 ft tall graft of ‘Lawson Dawson’ that’s been growing by the cattle chute for a number of years. Last spring I cut off a 1" diameter hackberry seedling that had come up right at its base and sprayed the cut stump (carefully!) with Pathway(Tordon) herbicide; making sure I didn’t get any on the mulberry. No ill effects noted through the year last year, but this spring it’s fruiting heavily! with very few leaves present, and those only at tips of maybe 25% of branches. I’m guessing there must have been some root-grafting between the hackberry and mulberry; just hoping it’ll tough it out and recover eventually.
