My new F2 peach x almond hybrid

This is my latest peach x almond hybrid. It’s a cross between luna peachmond, seed parent, x unknown pollen.

Luna peachmond is a cross between Elberta peach, pollen parent, x F1 Nonpareil Almond, seed parent.

The unknown pollen parent could it be either a Myrobalan plum or an almond. During the flowering season, I hand pollinated peachmond flowers with almond pollen. After pollination, I tagged the flowers, but a couple of weeks later, two tags fell off.

Or it could be a Myrobalan plum. Both trees are five feet apart and both bloomed at the same time.

Next year, I’m going to have Myrobalan plum x apricot, Santa Rosa x Myrobalan, Nectarine x Almond, and a new apricot.

What is your purpose in crossing peach and almond? I would guess a peach with an edible kernel?
I am just curious to know.

Cool, how palatable is the flesh and/or seed of Luna? I don’t really know what almond fruit flesh looks like, I assume that is fleshier and more succulent than a straight almond’s flesh would be.

My goal is to create hybrid rootstocks and self-polliating almonds.

Luna’s flesh is very dry; and some seeds are sweet and some are bitter.

Calired’s flesh mostly bland with a little bit of pockets of sugar.
