My orchard fortress

Recently finished my orchard fencing meant to repel all non flying animals. Still need a plan for the birds but all the ground critters have been evicted.

The base fence is a 7’ tall deer fence with 1.5x2” holes to keep out deer and rabbits. It’s staked into the ground and buried as well. Behind that it is lined with bird netting to deter chipmunks and squirrels. Then at the 5ft up mark there is a 5 wire electric fence to prevent anyone from climbing over. So far nothing has managed to get in though I still trap and kill chipmunks and mice around the perimeter to be safe.

WOW!
that’s indeed a fortress.
Such a coincidence because I was just posting on another thread about how I will soon need to protect my pawpaw orchard.
How are you powering your electric wires?

I have the same setup. Only mine is metal and looks more like a prison. Thinking about using some old aluminum fence poles to put net over the top. There are 1000’s of deer here and no other way to grow anything low to the ground.

Looks like that would even repel The Bad Little Boy Who Never Came to Any Grief.

I have an external garage with power about 50ft from the corner of my orchard so I hooked up the box there and then ran two high voltage underground wires over to the fence.

Here’s a full shot of the front:

Looks like a nice big gate to let equipment in.
