I have another question for the forum. Everyone has been very helpful to me as I am learning about growing fruits. I have two Lang Jujube tree that have not grown and branches or leaves. This is the first year I have had the trees. One of the trees looks to have a yellow substance below the graft. I did a scratch test and both trees show some green under the bark. Can you give me some advices. Thanks. Dave
I live in Fredericksburg Virginia area. I received the trees from ISON in the spring and I am very happy with the calipher and the overall size(over 4 and 1/2 ft) of the trees when I received them. I placed one inground in the spring and then decided to move it in the spring and I placed it in a pot. The second one was always in a pot. Both came to me as bareroot. I have no good reason why I purchased two Langs other than ISON only sells Li and Lang. I have a Li from ISON and it has grown about two feet this year. I have ordered from ISON and I have been happy with the quality of their products. I would actually recommend them. Just not sure why these two trees appear to be dormant. I am still a newbie with fruit trees. I did recently purchase a honey jar based upon a couple of the posts on this site.
Hi Dave! As Tony said the trees seem alive. It does seem like there should be more growth. I’ve never grown these in pots so I can’t recommend much about that.
I like Isons a lot. Honey Jar is probably the most popular choice on this board so good choice there. I don’t care for the flavor of Lang’s much here in Dallas, hopefully they’ll do better for you, and they’ll act as pollinizers for the li and honey jar. Li was a good choice.
