Nurseries list

The stuff I got from him was excellent and doing great.

A couple years I searched all around to find the early ripening main crop figs I wanted, and I see that he has most or all of them listed. I wish I’d ordered from him.

Ronde de Bordeaux and LSU Tiger are ones I’m glad I have. The jury is still out on Champaign. It didn’t start ripening until cold whether this year and the fruit are small and bland. I think the brebas I got last year were better.

I’ll throw in The Tree Authority in Perkasie PA https://treeauthority.net/

When I used to live in the UK these are the one’s I used

Blackmoor Nurseries https://www.blackmoor.co.uk (Good quality)
Buckingham Nurseries https://www.hedging.co.uk/ (Good quality)
Keepers Nursery - https://www.keepers-nursery.co.uk/ (Good)
Agroforestry Research Trust Ordering Information - The Agroforestry Research Trust (Great and cheap)
Chris Bowers & Sons https://www.chrisbowers.co.uk/ (Soft fruit)
RV Roger Ltd https://rvroger.co.uk (Soft fruit)
Victoriana Nursery https://victoriananursery.co.uk (good for native species)
Pomona Fruits https://www.pomonafruits.co.uk/ (service can be hit or miss)
Burncoose Nurseries - https://www.burncoose.co.uk (expensive)
Ashridge Trees - https://www.ashridgetrees.co.uk (Bought a Mulberry from them, more expensive than Blackmoor but it was a young tree rather than a whip - quality was good)
Royal Horticultural Society https://www.rhsplants.co.uk/ (expensive verging on rip off - RHS has a great site for plant info though)

Rock bridge trees may be worth moving off primarily nuts, they have an excellent selection of persimmon and mulberry as well. And one of the best jerusalem artichoke selections ive seen. Got my sunchoke in a couple weeks ago and very generous amount for the price

1 Lawson Dawson Mulberry tree is $150.

I think thats too much $ myself.

For a 5 ft tree including shipping its not crazy. But they have smaller trees for cheaper depending on the variety. Their 1-3 foots run more like 80 including shipping

It says 3-5ft for $150.

I have no need for anything taller than 2 feet really. I would gladly give $50 tops. 1 more foot for $100 more dollars is too much for me and i am an avid buyer.

Yeah i dont buy large trees like that i just dont think the price is insanely high for those that do. I think their stock varies a lot but the point is they have a good selection, at least better than many for persimmon and mulberry. Their smaller trees run more reasonable is all i meant.

I moved them to the general list, I agree they have more than just nuts. Their selection of native persimmons for example is very good.

I really wish they would say right off the bat when something is sold out though, you have to click on the size and then the container only to find out there are none left.

I’ve ordered from Purvis Nursery (mostly scions) and Montana Fruit Trees. Both are great to work with and have good selections for the intermountain west.

Nice info about Pervis Nursery. Thanks for the link.

Bob Purvis is on the ScionWood sources list since he mainly sells scions.

I’ll add the Montana Fruit Trees link, they have lots of varieties for cold-hardy apricots plums etc.

Thanks!

Sad to see that Pipsqueak Nursery might have gotten out of the nursery business. The website doesn’t work anymore and it looks like they setup a separate website for just the orchard. Too bad, got some nice trees from them the last couple of years and they always threw in extras.

This is the Nurseries List, I think I already put them on the Scionwood List.

Didn’t know a separate scion category had been created. Post deleted.

I just added a link to it at the top here, you’re not the first person to have missed it. Its actually older than the Nurseries list, a bunch of big places were not even on the Internet so that list was pretty important at one time.
