Here’s a 1911 catalog from J. Van Lindley Nursery Company near Greensboro North Carolina. Screenshot shows suggested Winter varieties for the various regions of NC. Their view was most early and late summer apples would do well across the state. It was the winter types that may not as you go farther east.
Unfortunately I only have two from eastern list and four from western. Hopefully eastern VA will be accommodating for most I got.
They don’t beat around the bush about the quality of low country grown Albemarles.
