Thank you for this clarification. I have the Myers Royal planted but no fruit as of yet. I wanted a larger LT apple variety. Looks like I may have picked the right variety version.
Mine are getting near picking. I tried one of the more ripe ones and it was very sweet but I could still taste some starch in the background and the flavor was not particularly rich. I know from past experience that they will need a lot of storage if they are picked now, or they need a lot more hang time. I will probably pick a bunch a week from now and store for a couple months.

Hmmm. This thread makes me think that my OFLT may have come from the nursery mislabeled… I don’t ever remember seeing even a hint of red on its fruits… just green, adorned with copious sooty blotch and flyspeck.
