Old Pawpaw varieties

A friend shared a pawpaw with me out of their grandmother’s backyard today that I feel must be a selected variety. It was large with a good pulp-to-seed ratio, and shaped like a jellybean rather than the potato I’m used to.

It was there when she moved in 20 years ago, and is on its last legs now, so it’s pretty old. Does anybody know what pawpaw varieties might have existed back then? I realize this is far too little information to ID it, but maybe enough to point in the right direction.

(I’m hoping to get scions to save it, of course.)
