Some of my onions have a flat side. Almost like they are dented. What gives?
Could it have been growing against a rock?
Maybe, but a few are like that, and it’s never happened before.
I’ve even seen that in grocery store onions, and it seems to me that they don’t store as well.
I’ve had some and found it to be I didn’t get the dirt away from them early enough and they had been in fairly hard clay soil and the one side just never bulged out like the rest of the onion. The clay here can get like rock.
I think it’s sun damage. They laid out in the field on a sunny 100 degree day.
