Opinions on what might be the cause

We have been getting quite a bit of rain here lately so the yellowing leaves on the Triple Crown blackberries may be due to that. Not all of the berries are showing this yellowing though, mainly just the TC’s. They were fertilized about a month ago and all seem to be growing like crazy. Are the TC’s more susceptible to wet conditions?

Then there is an issue with some of my bb plants leaves starting to get red. I am fertilizing with ammonium sulfate and am using ph’d water at 4.5 about once a week and they are getting water in between fertilizing. Right now it is quite a bit of rain water. Any help would be appreciated.

The TC yellowing is iron deficiency. Wet soil aggravates the condition by lowering oxygen in the soil and reducing the iron to an unavailable form. Blueberries could be the same thing but it could also just be the temperature. Dry warm weather will probably help both.

Seeing the same thing here on many container trees… I did add sulfur… we’ll see what happens.

It does look like chlorosis, whether it is due to lack of iron or too high of pH or too much water etc. I’m not so sure. Your blueberries though look like they are short on copper and/or zinc.

what are some suggestions for a well rounded fert for blues? I am and have been using just ammonium sulfate at 1 tblsp per 3 gal once a week.

I’ve used AS, a slow release complete, and a water soluable Miracid complete fertilizer. Right now the former and later. That’s been a good program so far.

I started using Holly tone soil acidifier and am seeing good results.

An azalea food which has little or no nitrate as a component of nitrogen.

Been awhile since I have been online here but the blueberry has since started to green up. The ph in the reddish leaf plant was the lowest out of all of my blues at 4.0 the rest are between 4.5 and 5.5. I have not fertilized for about 2 weeks but will resume, or should I hold off while there are berries on the plants?

I fertilize bb with fruit on the plant. Go for it.
