Ordering persimmons seedlings

Hello all, I typically graft persimmon trees from my collection for friends and family. I no longer have space to plant them, unfortunately! Does anyone have any recommendations for persimmon seedlings, not too expensive?

I’ve only ever ordered persimmon seedlings from Missouri State Conservation Department but have no complaints. Sizes varied from maybe 3/8" thick to maybe 1/8".

Ordered more for this year too.

I was a little too late. They’re sold out…

Ah. If you need them next year I think it’s something like 25 trees for $11 or something close to that. Plus shipping of course.

Did you check the Soil and Water conversations in counties local to you in your state? Lots of them have tree sales in the spring.

Last time I looked this nursery still had stock. I heard the shipping was high though.

How many are you looking for? Whats your location?

I just placed an order for 50 persimmon seedlings from Pikes Peak Nursery a few days ago. $1.30 each for 18-24" trees. 724-463-7747

Thanks for the info!

NJ I believe requires certification that they’d be used for reforestation or similar. That wouldn’t be my purpose .

Agree, never understood why shipping is do much

No problem! They are local pickup for me but I am pretty sure they ship too. Super friendly folks.

Looks like free shipping, can order online in lots of 10 or 20 (assuming this is the same nursery):

That indeed is the same nursery. Obviously it is a bit more expensive than a 50 pack, but 2.80/tree for 20 trees shipped seems pretty good to me.

Have ordered from Womacks for years. Big caliper as well minimum 1/2 inch. Sometimes hard to fit roots into a deep 5 gallon pot.

I just found out that Pike’s Peak has some persimmon seedlings left for the fall 2021-spring 2022 season, 6-12” in bundles of 50 @ .80/ea. I only have room for 10 at most, so will have to pass on this. It may be helpful for someone else. (If anyone wants to take up this offer and resell 10 to me at cost plus shipping, I won’t say no!)

I just checked, says out of stock, and I would really like to have some.

Greetings, Mulleteer! Glad you have joined this forum, it has been a lot of fun for me.

I inquired of Marcy at Pike’s Peak if the seedlings are still available. She says YES, the bundles of 50 I described yesterday are in stock, it’s just that the website has not been updated. E-mail them at pikespeaknurseries@verizon.net, and mention me!

I ordered 250 for spring delivery, last night from Georgia Forestry service, but will try for a couple of bundles of those also. Will email them when I get off work and home.

Thanks
Good fishing
