Pacific Gold apple

I unexpectedly received scion wood of this apple in place of a different scion that I wanted and was wondering if anyone here has any info on it. I really just want to know if I should graft it or toss it.

fruitwoodnursery.com has a description…says it’s superior to Yellow Delicious.

Not a lot of info, but here’s a description from the original discoverer:

Thank you, looks interesting!

I grafted it along with a couple other obscure local scions last year. It has taken off well so far.

Anyone able to post a review of Pacific Gold yet? I have a scion here from Fruitwood, and I’m trying to decide whether to use up some grafting space for it or not. It seems to be pretty obscure.

It grew vigorously last year, I can say that for it. I have no idea whether it’s worth growing or not.

Thanks!

Anyone been able to try a fruit from this thing?

If you decide to throw it away, I’ll offer to re-imburse shipping.

I’m leaning toward grafting it, but if I don’t, I’ll be happy to send it your way!

Late reply, perhaps moot by now. This is growing in Smith River, CA. Possibly originally from Fruitwood Nursery as a scion in 2020. unknown rootstock. Don’t have the best notes on it yet, the following is from memory. Fruit can be medium to large, golden skin with a red blush on the sun side when ripe, time is October. shape is longer than wide, with knobs on the calyx end like Golden Delicious. So far has no signs of scab, canker or mildew (the 3 big apple diseases here) in my warm coastal orchard. (Golden Delicious here gets terrible scab, so that the fruit is nearly unrecognizable as food, even worse than Pink Pearl) Taste is sweet with a bit of tang, crisp. My harvest off this still small tree was sequential in 2024, over about a month. Haven’t done anything with it yet besides taste it.
