Sure could use some help. I’ve got a peach and a nectarine tree in pots that produced great last year but this year they’re losing leaves and dying from the top down. Is it too late to turn these trees around? Had a mild winter here in SE Georgia, but a lot of rain. Should I dig ‘em up or is there hope?
I am a real novice only been Growing Fruit trees about six years. But I in Growing zone 8B pretty similar to 9a
I have had the same problem when I get too much rain, but I have pretty well drained soil and mine are in the ground not in pots I’ve read peaches. Do not like to keep their feet wet. not sure what kind of medium you have in the bottom of those pots, but it wouldn’t surprise me if they are holding in a lot of water
Thanks very much for the response. Yes, I’ve heard the same thing about wet feet. May have to re-pot these bad boys but I’ll try poking a few more holes in the bottom first. Thanks again.
Dunno what it is. But I pruned a peach that looked like yours yesterday. I had bought it a month ago and just put in the ground. I’m hoping it does not spread down the tree. I cut off the dead area, and the rest of the tree looks fine.
Good luck with it!
Before I did anything, I would search for threads about Growing Fruit trees in pots on this site. I know there are plenty of threads out there about the subject. By finding the different threads, it will help you find the real experts out there on growing trees in pots If you had any questions I know they would help you. I do think the problem might be in the pot and not the Peachtree or nectarine itself. Hope this helps.
Thanks. Kind of frustrating as last year 'twas all good. May just stick with tomatoes. Less stress.
Thanks again.
Good stuff. Will do. Thanks.
I’m new as well but I’d consider bacterial canker. Die back is a primary indication.
