Peach pimples - What are these?

I’ve never seen these before. What are these?

That’s my guess too. We haven’t seen much insect pressure here in 5B East Central Illinois. I had a delayed first spray due to rain but it’s been good. Stink bugs got me last year which just resulted in slight oozing from the bites and catfacing in the finished fruit later.

My impression is that is some kind of flaw in the growth of the fruit. Some varieties seem to be more prone to it than others. I don’t know what happens as the fruits grow but I don’t recall seeing it on mature peaches. Maybe it grows out of it.

Stinkbugs eat into the fruit so you get divots and brown color in the divots.

Interesting. Maybe some kind of stress response. It’s only on this one tree (Redstar). I’ve never seen it on this tree or any of mine before. We only have one nectarine and one other peach that is actually producing this season out of 16 peach trees. Not much to compare to. Thanks for the reply!

No photo update but just to follow-up the pimples were harmless. We cut into them carefully to see if there was any evidence of insect damage/boring. There was not. It was solid clear flesh below the bumps.
