Peach tree borer repellant ideas

The article in question. It sure does say it was an effective control. Even says it killed the grubs that were already burrowed into the bark.

If you’re willing to go ā€œoff-labelā€, check out ā€œBug Juiceā€ or ā€œM-1 Advancedā€ paint additives. Both appear to contain Deltamethrin which is also a Pyrethroid. More potent and more UV resistant I believe…

I’m certain that neither are labeled for use on trees bearing edible fruit though!

I simply saw a discussion on ā€œsocial mediaā€ from some folks discussing using these.. The active ingredient is not coming into contact with the actual fruit, is suspended in paint so very little is likely coming into contact with the tree’s bark, and in general I believe most Pyrethroids are not systemic. So doing this at least ā€œseemed likeā€ it would be fairly safe…

I’m sure someone will have a different opinion

Thanks i appreciate it. i will check those out.

To be continued. Made a pure limewash out of quicklime. Applied while still warm, two coats. I will reapply when the bugs begin to fly. I imagine that if it’s thick enough they will at the very least be discouraged. I also slopped it onto the wounded roots pretty good being sure to let it run into the crevices. If nothing else the trees now have a dose of calcium.
