Not my climate zone, but I grow most of the apples in the chart and the info is usually helpful:
I have splits on my Goldrush just like the ones in the picture.

I lose most of my Goldrush to splitting this time of yr. If they don’t rot the splitting at best makes them hard to store for very long. They are a little too harsh for me to eat right now even at 21 brix.
It’s a really big bummer for what could be a great apple.
Even in this extremely soggy autumn I don’t have any split apples. I wonder what conditions cause it and why I don’t see it?
After a bunch of setbacks over the years, I finally have Goldrush fruit this year. Based on comments, I expected it to be sour off the tree, but I actually like the one tried this week. It was tart, but didn’t seem sour at all. Then a few hours later my intestines felt like they were in a knot. I’m tempted to try another one to see if it was the apple. I do seem to have a sensitivity to astringent foods.
TY for posting this chart.
Thanks for posting. I have 3 of 4 apples ripening. Cripp’s Pink, Fuji and Gold Rush. The first two are first year fruiting. None of them fully ripen yet.
I did not spray fungicide in the summer. We had very wet the late summer + the fall. Leaves got fungal diseases and dropped at alarming rate esp… Gold Rush. Not sure how GR would taste this year.
Surprisingly, GR does not has any split. Not sure why. Meanwhile, Honey Crisp splited quite a bit. So did some Asian pears.
