In the past I have put my newly grafted trees in a “nursery bed”, to move them a year or two later to their permanent spot. I have been considering trying to put some of them in their permanent spot almost right away and skipping the nursery bed. What do you guys think ? Will it work or is it better to keep plant them in a nursery bed first ?
No problem as long as you treat them as you would in your nursery bed. Weed free, water, protect from critters.

Best to plant them in their ‘permanent’ location. This will reduce future transplantation shock.

Most of the time I put them in pots. Can plant at any time…even two years from now in August if I feel like it.

This is so handy, especially if you don’t know exactly where you want them permanently.
