One of the most interesting and thought-provoking things I’ve read in a long time! It even suggests to me that picking leaves from a leafy plant may make the remaining leaves less attractive -but possibly change the nutritional profile at the same time. Picking ripe fruit, however, should be non-consequential, since it’s designed to drop anyway.
